The Mart lounge chair was the extraordinary result of considerable research by B&B Italia with Antonio Citterio into the process of thermoforming leather on a large scale which allows the thick leather to mimic the complex curves of the seat form. The small Mart lounge chair is now available in both textile and leather versions; it is also available with two styles of base – a cruciform swivel base that was originally introduced in 2003 as well as a new splayed wooden base that was introduced in 2012.
The small Mart lounge chair`s cruciform swivel base is available in chromed finish as well as painted finishes of mustard, plum, black or bronze nickel. For the four-spoke splayed base, the composition is solid oak in a beautiful smoked finish. The internal seat structure for all versions is fiberglass covered with cold-formed polyurethane; for the textile covered versions, additional polyurethane with polyester cover are also used. Numerous textiles are available for the fabric version – for the thick leather versions, the options are limited to five color choices.
